Please Call My Phone

Posted Feb 19, 2010 | Started February 2010 | Programming, Design, Implementation

I made Please Call My Phone because I kept losing my phone in my room, and needed an easy way to find it. The site also has a "schedule" feature, so you could use it as an excuse to get out of a bad date or boring meeting.

My 2009, In Retrospect

Posted Jan 01, 2010
Personally and professionally, 2009 was my best year yet. I can't think of a year that comes close to 2009, and I want to thank some of the people who made it so great. It's pretty much required that every blog has some sort of countdown to ring in the New Year, and other sites already took the good topics. So, I figured I'd go with what I know best: me. It's mostly for me, anyway- it will be nice to be able to look back in a few years and see what I did in 2009. My 2009, in retrospect:

New Blogzine Posts

Posted Nov 19, 2009
There is a reason I pay for a physical copy of Wired every month. The text for all their articles are posted online, absolutely free. Yet I shell out $3 every few weeks for a hard copy. Why?
Blog posts are traditionally bland. There is a header, followed about a lot of
text. Occasionally, an image or quote will break things up a bit- but that is about it. Magazines like Wired get it right- they combine stylized text with unique images. Why can't blog posts do the same?

GigaOM Network Redesign

Posted Jul 03, 2009

My newest gig is working for the wonderful GigaOM blog network. My first task was to redesign the corporate website- it was a bit outdated, and needed a refresh. So, since I haven't posted anything new in awhile, I figured I'd share this.

What My Resume Says

Posted May 13, 2009

Microsoft recently had a sweepstakes, where they gave away resume consultations. I had just finished working on mine, so I figured it can't hurt to enter. I did, and I won (as did a lot of other people- they must have given away a ton).

So, here's both my review of their giveaway, and their review of my resume.

Imagine RIT

Posted May 02, 2009

Today was RIT's second annual Imagine RIT festival- a massive event displaying cool stuff people across campus are doing. I had an exhibit (which I'll post about later), however there were a ton of much cooler things going on.

So, here's my top five things I wish I had come up with or done.

The Casualties of Efficiency

Posted Mar 23, 2009

I have the same routine every morning. I get up, pour myself a cup of coffee, and sit down in front of my computer. By the time my mug is empty again, I know what's going on with a few hundred of my closest friends.

Social “utilities” are changing the way we communicate. No longer do we have to talk to each other; we now talk at each other. We narcissistically broadcast what we're reading, feeling, thinking and doing to a world that didn't necessarily ask. It works better this way- we only have to say something once, and everyone we know can read and comment on it.

RIT Intersect Proposal

Posted Mar 23, 2009

Currently, my pet project is The RIT Intersect- a way for browsing and finding new and interesting RIT classes. I have written a proposal for the application for a class I'm currently taking, Social Networks in Action. This proposal is going to change almost weekly, however I figured it would be a good way to "announce" my current project.

Site History

Posted Mar 23, 2009

I recently finished my redesign of gkoberger.net, but I didn't want to completely lose old versions of the site. So, I figured I'd post a few old versions, just so they weren't lost forever. Hopefully this layout lasts a bit longer than the previous ones- it took me 6 months (on and off, of course), so it better last a while.

Site Redesign

Posted Mar 21, 2009

After being under development for way too long (I was still living in California when I started it), welcome to the newest version of my site, gkoberger.net! It comes with new branding, layout, and content.
